1. Make sure everyone is OK. Call 911.
  2. If you are hurt or in pain at the scene, tell the officer or emergency responder.
  3. Obtain the names and contact information of any other drivers involved as well as witnesses.
  4. Take Photographs of the scene, including the final position and damages of vehicles involved, as well as any injuries you sustain.
  5. Contact your insurance company and let them know you were in an accident ‐ write the claim number down where you can retrieve it later.
  6. If your insurance company asks for a statement, you must comply (but may have an attorney present).
  7. You have NO OBLIGATION to speak to the other driver's insurance company.
  8. As of January 1, 2013, if you do not see a doctor within 14 days of an accident, you may lose your pip coverage for injuries sustained.
  9. NEVER admit fault before speaking to an attorney.
