Information For Use After An Accident
- Make sure everyone is OK. Call 911.
- If you are hurt or in pain at the scene, tell the officer or emergency responder.
- Obtain the names and contact information of any other drivers involved as well as witnesses.
- Take Photographs of the scene, including the final position and damages of vehicles involved, as well as any injuries you sustain.
- Contact your insurance company and let them know you were in an accident ‐ write the claim number down where you can retrieve it later.
- If your insurance company asks for a statement, you must comply (but may have an attorney present).
- You have NO OBLIGATION to speak to the other driver's insurance company.
- As of January 1, 2013, if you do not see a doctor within 14 days of an accident, you may lose your pip coverage for injuries sustained.
- NEVER admit fault before speaking to an attorney.
